Sanaullah was detained by police authorities in May for failing to comply with the rules of NRC, which has been updated to weed out illegal immigrants from Assam.
The final NRC list for Assam was released today, leaving out over 19 lakh people from the register. A total of 3.11 crore people have been included in the list.
Individuals whose names are missing from the final NRC list have to file appeals at Foreigners' Tribunals within 120 days to prove the authenticity of their citizenship.
Meanwhile, people who are declared as illegal immigrants by the Foreigners' Tribunals will be taken to detention camps and lock until their deportation to their native country.
